Baked Ziti with Italian Sausage (Comfort Food That Works Overtime)

This baked ziti is one of those recipes that earns a permanent spot in the dinner rotation. It’s hearty, cheesy, and comforting — but what really makes it a winner is that it’s designed to work twice.

You make one batch, enjoy it for dinner, and then repurpose part of the sauce later in the week for an easy leftover meal. That’s the kind of dinner planning I can get behind.

Why This Recipe Works

  • Italian sausage adds bold flavor without extra effort
  • Layering ensures every bite is cheesy and saucy
  • Baking brings everything together into classic comfort food
  • Built-in leftovers save time later in the week

This is ideal for busy weeks, family dinners, or feeding a crowd.

Ingredient Notes

  • Italian sausage: Use mild or spicy depending on your preference
  • Ziti pasta: Holds sauce well and bakes evenly
  • Ricotta cheese: Adds creaminess between layers
  • Mozzarella & Parmesan: Classic combo for melt + flavor
  • Marinara sauce: Use a good-quality jarred sauce to save time

How to Make Baked Ziti with Italian Sausage

  1. Cook pasta according to package directions.
  2. Brown sausage with garlic, then stir in marinara sauce.
  3. Season with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Set aside half the sausage sauce for leftovers later in the week.
  5. Layer pasta, sausage sauce, ricotta, and mozzarella in a baking dish.
  6. Repeat layers and top with Parmesan.
  7. Bake at 375°F until bubbly and golden.

I stopped buying bottled ranch once I started making it like this. Creamy, tangy, and actually tastes like ranch — not mystery sauce. This one is made as a true dressing, so it’s pourable and perfect for salads, drizzling over pizza, or adding to bowls.

What’s in it:
• Mayonnaise
• Buttermilk
• Dill (fresh or dried)
• Garlic powder
• Onion powder
• Dried parsley
• Paprika
• Salt & black pepper

That’s it. Simple ingredients, big flavor.

For exact measurements, tips, and how to turn it into a dip, read the full recipe on my blog.

Chicken fried rice is that weeknight hero! It’s quick, comforting, and the best way to turn random fridge leftovers into something delicious. I used carrots, peas, and green onions, but you can throw in whatever veggies or proteins you’ve got. It’s budget-friendly, better than takeout, and comes together fast. Save this for your next fridge clean-out night!
