This will be one of the easiest bread recipes that you will no doubt want to memorize. Mainly because, once you know the foundation you will be able to add so many additional flavors and herbs to create any type of bread your heart desires!
Bread Tips
Don’t use water that is over 110° or you might kill the yeast and the bread wont rise. Also, try to use instant yeast to keep the process fast and simple.
If you don’t have a dutch oven, use a cake pan. Some people say that putting a pot of water on the bottom rack makes the crust crispier but it is just a theory in my eyes!
No Knead Bread
A quick and easy bread recipe that doesn't require the long knead process.
Equipment
- Dutch Oven
- Dough Scrapper
- Parchment Paper
Ingredients
- 375 grams all purpose or bread flour just under 3 cups
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- ¼ tsp active dry yeast
- 1 ½ cup hot water between 110°-115°
Instructions
- Combine all dry ingredients in a bowl, mix together well with a whisk.
- Add hot water and stir with a spatula. Dough will be sticky.
- Cover bowl with plastic wrap and let sit for two hours or until it doubles in size.
- After dough has doubled in size, preheat oven to 450 and put in dutch oven to heat up. (be sure your dutch oven has a oven safe lid hadle, some cheaper ones are made of plastic and will melt)
- While the oven heats, dust work surface with flour, lay out dough, sprinkle more flour on top.
- Fold dough over onto itself a few times using a dough scraper.
- Lightly shape dough into a ball, place dough on top of parchment paper then into the heated dutch oven.
- Cook Covered for 30 minutes, remove lid and cook for another 10-15 minutes until your desired darkness.
- Let cool on a wire rack before slicing
Notes
If you don’t have a dutch oven, you can use a cake pan.
