one single bagel

One Single Bagel

Sometimes you don’t want a whole batch of bagels. You just want one

rest time 1 hour

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tsp yeast
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • ½ cup warm water
  • 1 cup bread flour 120g
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp honey for boiling water
  • Egg wash 1 egg + 1 tbsp water
  • Everything seasoning or toppings of choice

Instructions
 

  • Mix yeast and brown sugar into warm water. Let sit a few minutes.
  • Combine flour and salt in a bowl. Add yeast mixture and mix.
  • Knead until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
  • Shape into a bagel and poke a hole in the center.
  • Boil in honey water for 30–60 seconds per side.
  • Brush with egg wash and add toppings.
  • Bake at 375°F for 20 minutes or air fry, flipping halfway.
  • Cool slightly and enjoy.

Notes

You can use All Purpose flour if that's all you have but bread flour makes it very chewy!
